These tours are designed for small groups from 2 to 4 people. You will be picked up and dropped off at your hotel or other accommodation in or near the towns of Sarlat, Périgueux and Bergerac.

Splendors of Perigord : Sarlat & Lascaux II
Visit Lascaux II, the wonderful copy of the incredible prehistoric cave of Lascaux (closed to public visits) to see how our ancestors performed extraordinary polychrome wall paintings some 15,000 years ago. Enjoy after one of the most beautiful gardens of France at the Manoir d’Eyrignac before a visit to Sarlat, a historic town and a gem of Renaissance buildings that attracts more than a million visitors every year. On your way back to your hotel a stop in the stunning troglodyte village of La Roque-Gageac, one of the most beautiful villages of France, situated at the Dordogne River.

The ‘Cradle of Mankind’
Spend a day at Europe’s most important prehistoric site situated along the Vézère River. Discover this fascinating period of our humanity, the era of Homo Sapiens Sapiens, with a visit to the National Museum of Prehistory in Les Eyzies, where you will enjoy a guided tour. Then, visit some amazing prehistoric sites: Cap Blanc where you will see life-size sculptures of prehistoric animals, created more than 17,000 years ago! End the day with a visit to the unique grotto of Font de Gaume displaying prehistoric polychrome paintings or to some other caves (Bernifal or Rouffignac) to see amazing engravings that were performed at the same period.

Bergerac and its wines
You will be surprised to discover a large variety of excellent wines in the area of Bergerac. These wines are made with the same grape varieties as the Bordeaux wines but are much lower in price and by and large offer a great value. You will visit a winery reputed for the high quality of its red wines (Pecharmant appellation). Visit after an organic-grown vineyard, where primarily white wines are produced and learn from the owners all about the different Bergerac wines, including the reputed Monbazillac (white mellow wine). A wine tasting will be offered at the end of each visit. The tour also includes a guided visitof the charming town of Bergerac where you will encounter Monsieur Cyrano de Bergerac himself!

Bastides & Chateaux in the Bergerac area
Dordogne is the ideal place to discover ‘bastides’ and ‘chateaux’. In the Southwest of France a ‘bastide’is a new town built out of scratch mainly in the 13th-and 14th C. during the French-English war. They were founded or commissioned by either the King of France or the King of England. This excursion will take you to Monpazier, founded in 1285 by Edward I, King of England. It is considered one of the most beautiful bastide in France. To allow comparison you will also visit a French bastide, Villereal, founded in 1269 by Alphonse de Poitiers, brother of Saint-Louis, King of France. Your excursion will be completed by a guided visit of the imposing Château de Biron(12th-18th C.), the largest castle of Perigord. This château was occupied by the same family, the Gontaut-Biron, from the 12th to the 20th C.

Périgueux and Brantôme alias “Venice of Perigord”
Discover Périgueux, the capital of Dordogne with its beautiful Renaissance buildings, animated shopping streets, picturesque food markets and a stunning Cathedral St.Front which has been the model for the building of the Sacré-Coeur (Sacred Heart Church) in Paris. You will be thrilled visiting the amazing Musée Vesuna, dedicated to Gallo-Roman art and civilization and designed by the great French architect Jean Nouvel. After Perigueux, you will travel north to visit to the imposing Château de Bourdeilles built on the cliffs of the Dronne River and birthplace of Pierre de Bourdeilles. This chateau was one of the four baronies of Perigord and is one of the few still furnished. End the day with a visit to the charming town of Brantôme, nicknamed the ‘Venice of Perigord’, beautifully situated at the Dronne River and housing one of the oldest abbeys of France, founded by Charlemagne.
